Cybersecurity regulation and the food industry

Cybersecurity concerns have become more prominent with the accelerated uptake of e-commerce, working from home and online data-sharing during COVID-19 and globalisation. These concerns are particularly relevant to food businesses, which make use of and collect a range of both commercial and consumer data. This article explores what data food businesses seek to protect, how cybersecurity breaches can harm food businesses, and what privacy and cybersecurity laws exist surrounding protection of that data. It also considers digital sovereignty of a nation and the Australian Government’s current approach.
