Are the Food Standards Code's Daily Intake amounts consistent with the NHMRC measurements?

The NHMRC is the National Health and Medical Research Council, an independent statutory agency within the Health and Ageing portfolio of the Australian government. The NHMRC is directly responsible to the Federal Minister for Health and advises the government on new and emerging health care and research issues. The NHMRC however does not play any direct role in the structure of the Australia New Zealand Food Standards Code. Food Standards Australia New Zealand (FSANZ) is the government agency responsible for the development and wording of the Australia New Zealand Food Standards Code which is a legislative instrument that imposes compositional, labelling and safety standards that apply to foods supplied to Australian and New Zealand consumers. This article queries whether the Food Standards Code is keeping up with all the nutritional science revealed by the work of the NHMRC.
