Red Bull in dispute over Trans-Tasman Export Route

A dispute has arisen between Red Bull and the Australian Quarantine and Inspection Service (AQIS) over the seizure of two shipments of caffeinated beverages. The legal issues surrounding the operation of the Trans-Tasman Mutual Recognition Act are evidence of tensions between a desire for greater free trade and enforcement policies for Australian domestic food standards.
