Uncle Tobys penalty: Implications for usage of split claims?

On 26 November 2015, the manufacturer of Uncle Tobys oats paid a fine of $32,400.00 for misleading claims regarding the products protein content. This article considers the fine and some implications on the use of spilt claims, including consideration of differences under the Australia New Zealand Food Standards Code (the Food Standards Code) and the Australian Consumer Law.
