"GM-free" claims in Australia, USA and different EU countries

Concurrently with its recent approval of the sale of genetically modified (GM) salmon in the United States, the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) provided some further guidance for labelling of foods as ‘GM’ or ‘non-GM’. This article compares the requirements for claiming a product contains no genetically modified ingredients under the different laws or regulatory guidances in Australia, the US and different EU jurisdictions.
