Arnott’s Biscuits misleading comparison claims for light & crispy Shapes

On 20 November 2015, Arnott’s Biscuits Pty Ltd paid $51,000.00 in penalties and entered into a court-enforceable undertaking with the Australian Competition and Consumer Commission (ACCC) in relation to its potentially false or misleading saturated fat claims on five different products in its light & crispy Shapes range. This case highlights a potential hazard for food businesses when making comparative nutritive content claims and the need to address Australian Consumer Law claims as well as the Australia New Zealand Food Standards Code issues.
